WHAT DO WE MEAN BY COLLEGE-PREP?
We want to be clear about our definition of the term college-prep, since our mission is to make sure that our students are ready to excel in college. We mean much more than just "advanced" courses. The Engineering Academy prepares students for college in the following ways:
Students will study topics that are taught during the freshman and sophomore years in college.
Students are expected to develop note-taking, study, and time management skills in order to handle the pace of the engineering electives and advanced science courses.
Students are expected to develop and display academic and social maturity, including communicating regularly with teachers and asking questions when help is needed.
Students will be required to work effectively in groups, developing the ability to work with a variety of personality types.
Students will develop the ability to communicate effectively through public speaking and technical writing.
