MEET OUR ENGINEERING FACULTY
Dr. Mark Conner, DConn, has been teaching high school since 1996. He came to Hoover High in 2003 and started The Engineering Academy in 2004. DConn grew up in Hoover, attending Gwin, Simmons (Jr. High), and Resource Learning Center High School. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from UAB and Duke University. He teaches ea2, Engineering Physics I, and is involved in developing online versions of all four engineering electives.
LaShawnda Harris has been teaching high school at Hoover High since 2007. She holds a BS and MS in Materials Engineering from UAB and has done extensive graduate-level research. She teaches ea2, ea3, and IB Chemistry 11.
DJ Strickland is in his third year as a high school teacher. Prior to starting his teaching career, he spent 7 years in industry. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Auburn and is a licensed Professional Engineer.
